DEGREE REQUIREMENTS (A.B. and B.S.)

69.

The requirements for the degree are printed in the Catalogue and its Supplement.

70.

(a)

A student whose four-year cumulative average is 2.0 or above, but whose work for the senior year is 1.8 or 1.9, may be recommended for the degree after she has returned into residence for the second semester of any subsequent academic year. In this semester she will be required to carry at least 12 credits in which no courses are repeated, and to earn grades that will raise her senior average to the minimum for graduation (i.e., a student with a 1.8 average must earn 2.4; one with a 1.9 average, 2.2).

(b)

A student whose senior and four-year cumulative average is C or above, but who in senior year incurs a shortage through failure may be allowed to complete the requirements for the degree by making up the shortage at another College or university that is approved by the Administrative Board. The courses selected must be approved by the corresponding departments or programs at Smith College, must be at least equivalent in credit value to the work failed, and at the same or a higher level.
