MEETINGS

Members of the faculty must consider as confidential all faculty action until such time as it has been officially announced.

The regular meetings of the faculty shall be held on the first or second Wednesday afternoon of the first semester, and thereafter, except in vacation periods, on the fourth Wednesday of each succeeding month at 4:10 p.m., and on the Thursday morning preceding Commencement, subject to the discretion of the President. When the fourth Wednesday of November is the day before Thanksgiving Day, the meeting shall be held on the Wednesday following. If there is no business on the agenda by the preceding Thursday, any faculty meeting may be canceled by the President. Special meetings may be called by the President at any time.

(a)

 

As far as possible notice shall be given to the members of the faculty of the principal items that are to be brought up for discussion in the faculty meeting in advance of the date of the meeting.

 

(b)

 

Two copies of all principal motions and of all committee reports shall be submitted in writing to the Secretary of the Faculty one week before the faculty meeting at which they are to be offered.

 

(c)

 

Members of the faculty who have important matters to bring before the faculty are asked to inform the Secretary of the Faculty not later than Wednesday before the meeting at which these matters are to be discussed.

 

(d)

 

Fifty voting members shall constitute a quorum.

 

(e)

 

The faculty shall make public the agenda of its meetings beforehand and the actions taken at its meetings afterward by posting them at convenient bulletin boards on the campus or on appropriate electronic mailing lists.

 

(f)

 

A Parliamentarian appointed by the President shall when requested give advice to the Chair on parliamentary procedure.

 

(g)

 

A secretary, appointed by the President of the College, shall keep a copy of the minutes of faculty meetings that shall be submitted whenever called for at the meetings of the Trustees. (By-Laws of the Trustees, Section 6.1)

8.

 

All cases of admission, exceptions to academic regulations, and unsatisfactory scholarship and its consequences, shall be acted on by the several committees to which the consideration of these matters has been referred by the faculty, and not brought before the faculty for decision.
