WHAT TO BRING TO THE EVENT—NEWS MEDIA

Security procedures will be tightly enforced at the address by the Dalai Lama on May 9. Here are some guidelines as to what you can and cannot bring with you to the event.

Bring

Your Ticket
–Tickets are nonreplaceable
–Tickets are nontransferable—only the person whose name is on the ticket will be admitted

Your ID—Bring the same ID used to receive your ticket.

Your press credential, a business card is fine.

Layered clothing—The ITT is not air-conditioned. Seasonally appropriate, layered clothing is recommended.

Cash—for purchasing a drink or light snack in the event facility. (For security reasons, you cannot bring in any of your own food or drinks.)

Pocketknives or keychain pocketknives

Food or drink

Bags, backpacks, purses, etc.

Umbrellas

Note: ONLY media will be allowed to bring in electronic equipment such as cameras and tape recorders. There will be no storage space for prohibited items.

Timing

Doors will open at 7:30 a.m.

You must arrive at the media entrance by 9:15 a.m. That door is located on the West Street side of the building.

Those arriving late will be directed to John M. Greene Hall to view the simulcast of the address.

You may not leave the event facility. If you leave, you will not be granted re-entry.

Questions for the Dalai Lama

At the conclusion of the program, His Holiness will answer only those questions that have been submitted in advance. To have your question considered, please send it by e-mail to eventinfo@email.smith.edu by April 25.

Accessibility

Reserved seating for guests in wheelchairs and those who require sign-language interpreters will be provided but is limited to two per party. Please contact us at 413-585-3098 or eventinfo@email.smith.edu to make arrangements.
