Community Service

The Community Service Office (CSO) works to engage Smith students in a variety of community service and social action projects, workshops and placements.

The annual CSO Spring Blood Drive is coming up!

The Spring Blood Drive will take place in the Campus Center Carroll Room on Tuesday, February 23rd (11:00am-5:00pm) and Wednesday, February 24th (1:00pm-7:00pm). Signing up to donate is easy: simply select a time on this Doodle Poll.

Why donate?

  1. You will receive a free mini-medical check-up before donating
  2. Decrease cancer risks when you donate
  3. Reduce risk of heart attack because donating blood improves cardiovascular health
  4. MOST IMPORTANTLY, YOU ARE SAVING LIVES. Donating blood takes less than an hour of your time and you can save up to THREE lives with that one hour's worth.

Come share the love this month of Valentines!

If you're not able to donate, that's OKAY. Come be part of the drive as a volunteer by signing up here.

Our mission is to support student engagement in meaningful community service work and leadership training that enhances the educational experience, meets community-identified needs, provides opportunities for reflection, models the development of effective, collaborative community partnerships with local nonprofit organizations and encourages a lifelong commitment to community engagement.

Our philosophy, which focuses on community service and social action, centers around building bridges among diverse groups of people and encouraging learning through community work. The CSO works with the Center for Community Collaboration and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life on these initiatives.
