The Office of College Relations communicates
news and information about Smith to the media, to other off-campus constituencies
and to the campus community. It also fosters involvement within the community in
order to increase communications and maintain positive relations between the college
and the city. The executive director of public affairs and the director of media
relations act as spokespersons for the college and as media liaisons. The office
assists members of the college community with publicity projects and special events,
produces college publications, maintains the online calendar, produces eDigest and
the Grecourt Gate news and events Web site, and coordinates summer programs.
Our students, alumnae, faculty and parents
are vital ambassadors for Smith. "Speaking of Smith" provides up-to-date points of
pride and distinction you can use when you talk about the college to prospective
students, families and other interested audiences.
The Office of College Relations is responsible
for administering the college's new visual identity system as it relates to publications,
printed materials and Web pages.
The publications office produces most college
publications, including NewsSmith, the course catalogue and some 300 other
pieces annually to recruit new students and provide information to the college community.
The events management office is the central
resource for scheduling, consultation, designing, planning, promoting and evaluating
events at Smith College. Management of summer programs, the R25 scheduling program
and the online calendar are integrated in the office.
