ERRING, ERRORS AND FEMALE WORK:
WOMEN'S RITUALS IN HOMER
Ritual functions like language in that it reproduces modes of behavior acquired in early childhood. Seeking to provide insights about women's lives in early Greece, this lecture considers how, in the Homeric poems, women's rituals are intertwined with female work. The lecture focuses in particular on the notion of ritual error.
