Smith Alum Recommendation - Brooklyn Area
(Brooklyn Heights, Carrol Gardens, Fort Greene, and Park Slope, all nice brownstone neighborhoods close to Manhattan). Go (in person) to the Park Slope Food Coop on Union Street between 6th and 7th Avenues (lots of trains are close by). There is a huge bulletin board there with all sorts of interesting housing postings - people seeking roommates and people seeking rooms - as well as cool networking stuff like furniture for sale or services for fee or swap.
