Virtual Career Fair 

Student application period: October 1 - October 25

Phone interview day: November 16

Smith College partners with Dartmouth, Lafayette, Olin, Swarthmore, and Union Colleges and Bucknell, Harvard, and Tufts Universities as a member of the Engineering Recruiting Consortium.  

The ERC hosts a Virtual Career Fair, open to students majoring or minoring in Engineering or Computer Science.  The fair includes full-time positions and internships.

Students can view and apply online to opportunities posted on the ERC web site beginning October 1.  Selected applicants will be invited for phone interviews to be held November 16, 2010.

To Register:

1.  Select “Create an Account” at the left side of the screen in the Students box, the enter ERC2010 as the Access token word.

2.  Under “Register for an Account,” fill in all of the data fields and click “Register.

3.  Complete required fields in your Profile.  Be sure your email and phone numbers are correct. 

4.  In Your Experience Preferences indicate if you want emails and newsletters about other Experience programs and services. Then fill in the required fields in the Personalization section.  If you choose not to answer any of these questions, there is an “I’d rather not say” option.

Reviewing ERC’s Posted Opportunities

1. Use the ERC Full-Time or ERC Internships searches to view postings.

2. Click on an employer’s name for an overview of the employer. Click on the job title to link to the employer’s posted job(s).  In the job title section, you will find the complete contact information to address your cover letter and the application materials required when applying for that position.


Prepare to Apply: Upload Your Materials

1. Go to “Documents” in the gray box across the top and click on “Upload a Document.”

2.  Follow the instructions to upload resumes, cover letters, transcript, and writing samples.  Use precise filenames to help you manage your documents. You can store multiple resumes and cover letters in the system. Transcripts should be uploaded under “Other”.

Applying to Positions

1. Scroll to the bottom of a job listing, looking for the “How to Apply” box (or you may see “Application Restricted” if you have not yet uploaded your resume and cover letter). This area will list the application requirements and requested materials.

2. Select the correct resume, cover letter and other materials needed by highlighting the name of each material, then click “Submit.”
