The Poetry Center

The Poetry Center, located in Wright Hall, connects the work of the classroom with the world of living poets. Throughout the academic year, the Poetry Center brings a series of distinguished poets to campus for readings, with audiences ranging from 100 in Neilson Browsing Room to a full house in 2,000-seat John M. Greene Hall. Teachers are encouraged to reserve blocks of seats for their students. Other resources include a video archive of all the readings and outreach programs at local schools. The Poetry Center has also hosted a Voices From Inside reading by incarcerated and recently released women, and facilitates visits by poets to The Care Center, which provides alternative education for pregnant and parenting teens in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
