Summer Institutes for Educators
The Summer Institutes for Educators are professional development programs designed to support middle and high school teachers. Held on the Smith campus in July, institutes bring together educators from throughout western Massachusetts and beyond for workshops that span two days to two weeks; participants receive stipends and professional development points. Recent workshops have focused on two themes:
- incorporating engineering into the K-12 curriculum
- adolescent girls' health and wellness
Teachers return to campus throughout the school year for call-back days to continue their work, assess implementation and learn about new resources.
