Smith offers programs designed to inform students and
employees about Campus Police procedures and practices, and to encourage students
and employees to be responsible for their own security and the security of others.
These programs include:

A three-hour panel
presentation, "Self Protection and Personal Safety," is offered twice
during orientation week. All new students must attend one of these presentations.
They are also open to returning students. |

Presentations by the
director of the Campus Police Department on safety issues, practices, policies
and procedures are presented each year to student leaders, including house
presidents, head residents, heads of new students and other student leaders. |

The director of the
Campus Police Department and other department members make presentations
on campus safety issues, practices, policies and procedures to campus residence
houses, student organizations and college employees by request or when deemed
appropriate. |

Campus Police Department brochures, including safety information, crime prevention programs,
Operation ID and bicycle registration, are distributed yearly to all students.
They are available upon request and are posted in central locations on campus. |

Alerts, facts and precautions
are distributed to all students and employees when appropriate. Such information
is posted in public areas of campus buildings and at other central campus locations. |

Student-led workshops
on rape awareness, sexual harassment and abusive relationships are regularly
presented in campus residence houses. |
