Everywoman's Center is a multicultural campus-based
women's center established in 1972. EWC sponsors five different programs and two
projects designed to serve the needs of the diverse cultural and linguistic populations
of the University and surrounding community. EWC's mission is to provide leadership
in promoting educational access and equity for women, to empower women to take
full control of their lives and to strengthen the connections among women. EWC
works to stop all forms of oppression, particularly those based on gender, age,
class, ethnicity, race, mental and physical ability, sexual orientation and spiritual
belief.
The Five Colleges have a wide variety of
resources available to assist students who have experienced sexual harassment,
sexual assault or relationship violence. This online resource
will acquaint you with the range of services and people who stand ready to help.
Safe Passage provides services for battered
women and their children. At Safe Passage, we envision a future where all intimate
relationships are safe and loving. By providing comprehensive services and compassionate
support, Safe Passage empowers women and their children who experience emotional
and/or physical violence to rebuild their lives free from abuse. Our advocates access
a wide variety of resources and the full support of the community for battered women
and their children.
One of MOVA's most important functions is to
provide direct assistance to crime victims. When crime strikes, victims and their
families are often traumatized, confused and uncertain about where to turn for help.
To help alleviate these burdens, the MOVA staff offers crisis intervention and short
term counseling, referrals to appropriate programs and service providers, and information
and advocacy to help victims better understand the criminal justice system. We can
also connect victims to support groups in their communities so that they can talk
with others who have had a similar experience.
Jane Doe Inc., the Massachusetts Coalition
Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, brings together organizations and people
committed to ending domestic violence and sexual assault. We create social change
by addressing the root causes of this violence, and promote justice, safety and healing
for survivors.
The Network/La Red works to end abuse in lesbian,
bisexual women's and transgender communities. Domestic Violence happens to lesbians,
bisexual women and transgender folks from all walks of life. One in four LGBT people
are battered by a partner. You are not alone. No one has the right to abuse and no
one deserves to be abused.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline answers
more than 16,000 calls per month from victims, survivors, friends and family members,
law enforcement personnel, domestic violence advocates and the general public. Hotline
advocates provide support and assistance to anyone involved in a domestic violence
situation, including those in same-sex relationships, male survivors, those with
disabilities and immigrant victims of domestic violence. All calls to the National
Domestic Violence Hotline are confidential. |
