Self nominations for this award will not be accepted.

This award recognizes an outstanding student leader who has demonstrated excellence in academic growth and achievements as well as excellence in their contribution to the Smith community through leadership of and participation in campus activities.

Consideration for recognition is based on the following criteria:

• Be enrolled full time and in good academic standing at the time of the application.
• Have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
• Hold a significant leadership position on campus.
• Have made a significant contribution to the Smith campus community.
• Have demonstrated leadership skills and ability.
• Demonstrate the ability to prepare other leaders.
• Have a willingness to go beyond the call of duty.
• Have a positive attitude toward Smith College.
• Must have two (2) letters of recommendation: one letter from a Smith faculty or staff member and one from a peer. Please submit these letters via email to ccevents@smith.edu.

Other considerations:

• The nominee’s quality of performance in position(s) held.
• Their initiative in individual or group efforts.
• Extent to which they have provided a meaningful contribution to other students, the college and/or community.
• Extent to which the nominee demonstrated creativity and/or perseverance in their effort.

Please provide information about the student leader above regarding their leadership skills and abilities, accomplishments as a leader on campus, leadership training and activities participated in, and why you believe the nominee should be recognized as the Outstanding Student Leader.

Please provide two (2) letters of nomination. One letter should be from a faculty or staff member and should specify the nominee's leadership positions, responsibilities, skills and abilities, training and accomplishments. The other letter should be from a peer who can share information regarding the nominee's leadership skills. The letters should be sent directly to ccevents@smith.edu as a word attachment.
