WHAT TO EXPECT

TRAINING
All Campus Center Student Employees are required to attend training prior to the start of the Fall Semester, usually during the 3rd week of August. Training is an opportunity for Student Employees to learn the Campus Center policies and procedures, as well as area specific assignments. Training includes hands on practice with building furniture and equipment and closed toed shoes are required at all times! This week long process enables the Campus Center Staff to become prepared for the academic year and to set goals for each area.

Students are expected to return the evening prior to the start of training to move into housing. Housing and Meals are provided during this time. All Student Employees will be paid a stipend for the training time period.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT
Each student employee is expected to attend all required work orientation sessions prior to the fall semester, work related meetings, training sessions, in-services or activities that may be required during the semester.

Staff Development provides you with practical skill building, such as resume and cover letter practice, leadership training, community service and more!

Student Employees will be expected to participate in monthly online Student Staff Development. Staff Development averages 1 hour in length and will be recorded as paid time.

SCHEDULING
Student Employees in the Campus Center work an average of 8-10 hours per week. Each position is self-scheduled based on upon hours that coverage is needed or that event coverage is needed. Each position requires different hours and has different coverage needs. Students will work as a team to choose their work hours taking into consideration the student's schedule and the department's needs. Once the schedule is established and distributed, the employee is solely responsible for knowing their schedule and meeting their assigned hours. Evening and Weekend work will be required of most positions!

Each employee is expected to work their assigned hours through the last day of the term. This is normally the last day of classes for both the fall and spring terms. Students will be asked to sign up for shifts during finals week according to their final exam schedules.
