Welcome to the web site of the Banner Technical Committee at Smith College.

Mission

The mission of the Banner Technical Committee is to advise and prioritize Banner and Banner-related projects; address Banner and Banner-related software issues; and to align goals for administrative technology with the priorities of the College and those departments that advance the mission of the College.

Members of the committee are comprised of module and/or departmental representatives responsible for identifying efficiencies and new technologies. The committee provides a forum for communication and exchange for sharing information and concerns in relation to Banner and Banner-related issues; department specific issues and outcomes are reported; department specific ongoing issues are addressed outside meetings.

Objective

The primary objective of the Banner Technical Committee is to guide and advise the Director of Administrative Technology and Software Services on overall implementation of Banner and Banner-related software projects. The Banner Technical Committee is charged with the following major responsibilities:

identify and recommend implementation of Banner and Banner-related software and technology projects that increase efficiencies and are aligned with college and departmental goals for administrative technology and software.

periodically review and advise on priority of Banner and Banner-related projects. Review potential conflicts that arise during the implementation and recommend solutions.

review Banner security policy and procedures, Banner operational policy and procedures.

make recommendations to the Information Technology Coordinating Committee (ITCC) for strategic technology planning consideration and action.
