Volleyball
Over the past 29 seasons Smith's volleyball program has earned a reputation as one of the top programs in New England. The Pioneers have made three appearances in the NCAA Division III National Championship and have gone on to post-season play 18 out of 29 years. In the past ten years, Smith has ranked consistently in the top12 teams in the NCAA New England region. In 1997, the Pioneers won the ECAC post-season championship and in 2005 were the NEWMAC champions..

Smith Volleyball Falls to Wellesley 3-0 in Regular Season Finale
Smith Volleyball lost 3-0 (16-25, 10-25, 19-25) to NEWMAC rival Wellesley this afternoon to close out the regular season. With the loss, Smith falls to 12-19 overall and (5-4)in conference competition. Wellesley improves to 24-6 overall and (8-1) in NEWMAC play.

In non-conference action last night, the Pioneers fell to Eastern Connecticut State University 3-1. With the loss, Smith fell to 12-18 overall while the Warriors improved to 18-11.

Volleyball Defeats Mount Holyoke 3-1
Junior Mikal Minarich's (Hobart, IN) eight kills, three service aces and 8 digs helped the Pioneers defeat the Lyons of Mount Holyoke last night in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) competition. With the victory, Smith improved to 12-17 overall and 5-3 in the conference while the Lyons fell to 4-14 and 0-8.

Smith Finishes 8th at Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament
To open day two of the Hall of Fame Tournament, Smith lost to a talented Williams squad 3-1 (25-12, 25-11, 22-25, 25-14). In their second match of the day, the Pioneers dropped a match to Bowdoin 3-1 (25-16, 26-28, 25-7, 25-20). With the losses Smith dropped to 11-17 on the season.

Springfield Takes Home Volleyball Hall of Fame Championship
In the final day of the Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament, the Pride of Springfield defeated the Jumbos of Tufts University 3-2 (25-23, 24-26, 20-25, 25-20, 15-11) in a fitting Gold Bracket championship finals.

Smith Drops Tight Match to Tufts in Hall of Fame Tournament Opener
In a match that kicked off the annual Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament, the Pioneers fell in a very close match to the Jumbos of Tufts University 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-21). With the loss Smith falls to 11-15 on the year while Tufts raised its overall record to 23-1.
