2007-08 Outlook and History
2007-08 Outlook
The 2006-07 track and field team reached many of its goals. It maintained and even improved upon team finishes from 2006 moving up six places at the New England Indoor Championships and three palces at the New England Outdoor Championships. After finishing fourth at the NEWMAC Championship for the third consecutive year, the team is determined to maintain its top four finish.
The 2007-08 team will look to rebuild after graduating the Pioneers leading scorers McKane Sharff and Shayla Livingston. Sharff, a three-year member of the NEWMAC All Conference team, set new school indoor records in the 55m dash and 200m dash. She was New England III 55m dash Champion and finished 13th in the country in that event at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. Livingston set new outdoor records in the 200m dash, 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles and earned All American honors at the NCAAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships where she placed fourth in the country in the 400m hurdles.
Returning to lead the young Pioneers in 2008 are the New England III pole vault champion Etta Grover-Silva and the NEWMAC 2006 steeplechase champion Nora Youngs. Joining Youngs in the distance events will be senior Alison Cloutier, junior Sari Field and sophomore Christine Dzialo. Grover-Silva will head up the sprinters with help from Alina Ainyette '09, Jasmine Liverpool '10, Caitlin Ritchie '09, Hailey Bird '10 and dual event performer Claire Edwards '09. Edwards will lead the jumpers with Liverpool and sophomores Sienna Boyd and Lisa Marie Vuono. The throws will be handled by Keneil Anglin' 10, Roseann Atkinson '10 and Julia Res '08. With the inclusion of a taleted incoming first-year class and tranfers, the Pioneers look toward a successful 2008 season.
