2009-10 Outlook
The 2008-09 team, led by sophomores Lenora Walter (Santa Ynez, CA), Lily Seidman (Westfield, IN) and Alexis Roehrich (Eau Claire, WI), finished 9th overall at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships with three team members and five relays making finals. Walter's placed fourth in both the 100 backstroke (1:00.84) and 200 backstroke (2:10.90) with lifetime best times which were fractions of a second off team records and just off NCAA qualification times. Seidman placed in three events, finishing 9th in the 100 back (1:02.16); 8th in the 200 fly (2:16.49) and 6th in the 100 fly (1:00.35). Roehrich finished 8th on 1 meter and 6th on 3 meter in the diving events. She also achieved the NCAA consideration score for diving. Christine Dzialo '10 (Belchertown, MA), Alex Page '12 (Brookoine, MA) and senior Francesca Kotey '09 (Gainesville, FL) also had strong meets, with all recording best times. Overall the team produced over 90% best times and team members experienced the improvement and team camaraderie which is such a strong and integral part of the team experience.
The Pioneers expect an outstanding 2009-10 season with fifteen returning team members plus a talented group of incoming swimmers and divers. With the talent and dedication of this group, the team expects to move up in the Conference standings, place more team members on the All Conference and All Academic teams and send 2-3 swimmers plus 1-2 divers to the NCAA National Championship.
