Coach Tim Bacon has been squash coach at Smith since 1994. A 1980 graduate of the University of Toronto's Physical and Health Education Program, he received an M.A. in Physical Education from the University of Western Ontario and has several years of advanced study in sport psychology at the Universite de Montreal.

Bacon is a Squash Canada Level 4 certified coach and led the Canadian Junior Men's National Team at the 1990 World Championships. He was the Massachusetts 45+ Softball Open & Mixed Doubles Champion in 2004.

As a certfied mental training consultant, Bacon has consulted with the Canadian squash, tennis and racquetball national team programs since 1987. He is a former chair of the Sport Science Committee for Squash Canada and is a frequent speaker at International Coaching conferences. In 2004, he was co-awarded the Clarence C. Chaffee Sportsmanship Award along with Gail Ramsay from Princeton University.
