2008 Outlook
The Pioneers concluded their 2007 season with an overall record of 16-18 and a 9-7 mark in the NEWMAC. Smith entered the conference tournament as the number five seed. In the first round of the six-team double elimination tournament, the Pioneers fell to number four seed Clark University 11-8 and were eliminated from the tournament with a 12-3 loss to second seed Wheaton College.
The Pioneers lost five players to graduation including NEISCA All New England, NFCA All Region and NEWMAC First Team All Conference selection Deb Sasges. Ten players return from last season and with the addition of talented first years, Smith softball 2008 looks forward to another successful season.
