Coach Julie Perrelli is in her first year as Smith's softball coach. A 1999 graduate of Western Connecticut State University, Perrelli has served as a teaching fellow and assistant softball coach at Springfield College the past four years. She received a Master of Science Degree in Physical Education/Athletic Administration in 2004 from Springfield College and is expected to complete a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Physical Education in May of 2007. Perrelli was the compliance coordinator intern at UMASS in 2003 and the assistant director of the Danbury (CT) Police Activities League Youth Center from 1999-2002. She served as the assistant field hockey coach at Ridgefield High School (CT) from 1996-98 and assistant softball coach in 2001.In 1999 and 2000, she was the head field hockey coach at Southern Connecticut State University.

Perrelli is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and the New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association and has worked as a softball clinician for ten years.
