Lacrosse
Smith's lacrosse team uses a full 19-week playing season and begins its traditional season indoors during the first week of February. The team utilizes the full-sized indoor track and tennis facility until the weather permits a move outside. The Pioneers travel to West Palm Beach, Florida for spring break where they play three to four games before returning to New England to face independents UMass-Dartmouth and Western New England before beginning NEWMAC competition at Babson College.

Lacrosse Falls to Wellesley in Quarterfinals of NEWMAC Championship
Senior Sara Smyth (Brooklyn, NY) and first year Caitlin Kennedy (South Hadley, MA) each scored three goals for the Pioneers in Smith's 13-7 loss to Wellesley in the quarterfinals of the 2008 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Lacrosse Championship. The Pioneers end the season 5-10 overall while Wellesley advances in the tournament.

Lacrosse Takes Loss from Springfield
After Smith took a six to five lead at halftime, Springfield College was able to end the game with five unanswered goals to defeat Smith 14-8. With the loss Smith finishes the season 5-9 overall (1-5 NEWMAC), while Springfield improves to 9-6 overall (5-1 NEWMAC).

Lacrosse Defeats UMass-Dartmouth
Senior Sara Smyth (Brooklyn, NY) and first year Caitlin Kennedy (South Hadley, MA) combined for nine of the Pioneers 13 goals to en route to Smith's 13-9 defeat of non-conference opponent UMass-Dartmouth. With the victory, the Pioneers improved to 5-8 overall while the Corsairs dropped to 6-4.

Wheaton Lacrosse Defeats Smith 11-9
In a come-from-behind victory this afternoon in Northampton, the Lyons of Wheaton College defeated Smith 11-9 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action. With the loss, the Pioneers fell to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in conference competition while Wheaton improved to 7-8 overall and 3-3 in the NEWMAC.

Senior Sara Smyth (Brooklyn, NY) scored a team high four goals for the Pioneers but the Owls of Keene State recorded the 9-7 come-from-behind victory. With the loss, Smith fell to 4-7 while Keene State improved to 9-4.

The Pioneers scored the first four goals of the game in what would prove to be an 11-8 victory over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference foe, Mount Holyoke. With the win, Smith improves to 4-6(1-3 NEWMAC) on the season, while Mount Holyoke falls to 2-9 (0-4 NEWMAC).

Senior Sara Smyth (Brooklyn, NY) tallied seven goals with three assists to help lead the Pioneers to a 16-8 defeat of New England College this afternoon in Northampton. With the victory, Smith improved to 3-5 overall while the Pilgrims fell to 3-8.
