2008 Outlook and History
2008 Outlook
With five of the top seven runners returning from a successful fall campaign, the Pioneers are brimming with optimism for the 2008 season. Leading the charge for Smith will be three-time NCAA Academic Scholar Athlete and 2007 NEWMAC Runner of the Year Nora Youngs '09. Youngs, in her three seasons as a Pioneer, has qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships. She, along with teammates Sari Field '09, Meredith Jones '10, Christine Dzialo '10 and Stephanie Strenta '11 will continue to help the team ascend the New England ranks. Newcomers Kristin Peck (Glenmont, NY), Hania Thomas-Adams (Deerfield, MA), and Alyssa Panozzo (Manlius, NY) will help bolster the team.
NEWMAC competition will be strong once again with defending champion MIT the team to beat. Smith looks to finish in the top two in the conference as it works to regain the prominence it enjoyed in the '80's.
