There are two internship positions open for the upcoming school year. Both have $2,000.00 stipends, with a full year commitment. First years are not eligible. The basic function of this position will be to assist in planning and facilitating a variety of outdoor recreation activities for Smith students throughout the school year. These will vary from leisurely foliage walks and winter snowshoeing to more exciting whitewater rafting and rock climbing trips. There are also office, logistical and various other responsibilities sometimes related to the Outdoor Program, boathouse and climbing wall. Although you will receive some training, you will be asked to take a greater leadership role in areas where you are stronger. At times, interns will be responsible for the supervision, safety, logistics and overall “feel” of the trips. Although the interns will need to be able to function independently, they will be accountable to the director of the Smith Outdoors Program, Scott Johnson. Hiring for these internships are done during the spring for the following year. To inquire, leave your name and phone number by calling the Smith Boathouse at x3445, or emailing sbjohnso@smith.edu.
