The Outdoor Adventure program at Smith organizes fun outdoor trips throughout the school year! While some of our trips can be more challenging, most of them require no experience and are usually free. The Smith outdoors program is based out of the Paradise Pond boathouse and information on our trips as well as other local outdoor fun opportunities is always available. Our goal is to reach out to students and provide fun, relaxing and often adventurous off-campus trips. We hope to enhance student life at Smith by providing opportunities to try new things and meet new people. We own a variety of quality outdoor gear that is available for use on our trips including tents, sleeping bags, snowshoes, rock climbing gear, boats, whitewater rafts and more! Smith students have priority, but guests, faculty and staff are welcome if there is space.
Our trips vary from easy foliage hikes, snowshoeing, canoeing and sea kayaking to more exciting rock climbing, caving and overnight backpacking. With the exception of Fall and Spring Breaks and sometimes J-term, all of our trips are convenient, off-campus outings leaving on either Saturdays or Sundays and returning with lots of time left in the day. So check out our schedule for this semester & pick a trip!
