Tennis Competes in NEWITT

Northampton, MA: Claire Oblamski (Elm Grove, WI), Eunice Zhao (Las Vegas, NV), Gianna Teague (Gahanna, OH), Jaimi Inskeep (Warrenville, IL), Annie Belmonte (Briarcliff Manor, NY), Rachel Canfora (Chicago, IL), Maggie Steiner (Madison, CT) and Ally Hawkins (Plainfield, NH) all competed this past weekend in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT) with Teague and Inskeep advancing to the quarterfinals of the B flight.

In the main draw of the "A" flight, Leah Ribchinsky and Caitlin Osepchuk of Roger Williams defeated Oblamski and Zhao, 2-1. In the "B" flight, Steiner and Hawkins defeated Valerie Leso and Leeanne Soprano 3-0 before losing to Kate Paul and Jen Kim of Amherst, 3-0. Belmonte and Canfora drew a bye in the first round and lost in the second round to McKenzie Love and Sally Meehan of Colby College, 3-0.  Teague and Inskeep also drew a first round bye and faced Ceila Contreras and Chloe Oldfather of Suffolk and took the round 3-0.  They then defeated Kristina Pappas and Frances Cameron of Trinity 2-1 before losing in the quarterfinals to Liz Pedowitz and Sabine Carrell of Bowdoin 2-1.

The Pioneers travel to Wellesley College this weekend to compete in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship.
