Tennis Individuals Compete at ITA
Northampton, MA: Singles players Alanna Dick (Winthrop, ME) and Isabella Pal (Constanta, Romania) and doubles partners Jaimi Inskeep (Warrenville, IL) and Gianna Teague (Gahanna, OH) competed yesterday at the ITA Division III New England Championships held at MIT.
In a field of 64 singles players, Dick drew the number one seed, Julia Browne from Tufts, and lost 6-0, 6-0 which put her in the consolation bracket. She then faced Alexandra Piacquad of Bates and bowed out of the tournament after being defeated 6-1, 6-0. First year Isabela Pal won her opening match 6-1, 6-2 against Kyla Walgren of Springfield College but lost in the second round 6-0, 6-1 to Leslie Hansen of MIT.
In first round play of the 32-team doubles championship, Inskeep and Teague fell 8-3 to Olivia Merns and Kelsey Semrod of Trinity and then dropped their consolation bracket match 8-4 to MacKenzie Gallegos and Rachel Rosman of Brandeis.
The Pioneers will open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) competition on Saturday, September 26 when they host Babson College at 1 p.m.
