Soccer Falls in Double Overtime

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers traveled to UMass-Dartmouth this afternoon and came up short, 1-0, in double overtime. With the victory, the Corsairs improved to 3-2 while Smith fell to 1-2.

In an evenly contested game, it was senior defender Kelsey Boothby (Holbrook, MA) who scored on a free kick with 1:38 remaining in the second overtime period to lift UMass-Dartmouth past the Pioneers in a non-conference game.

The Pioneers had scoring opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net.  Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) played well at midfield as did previously injured Valerie Driscoll (Keene, NH), who returned to action today.  Sophomore goalkeeper, Lindsey Gregor (Bradenton, FL) made eight saves in 108 minutes of action.

The Pioneers will host non-conference opponent Wesleyan University on Wednesday, September 16 at 4:30 p.m.
