Okamoto Joins Smith Soccer Staff

Northampton, MA: Colorado College graduate Katlin Okamoto '07 has joined the Smith College soccer staff as a graduate assistant coach. Okamoto, who has enrolled in the Masters program in Exercise and Sport Studies with an emphasis on coaching, is due to receive her M.S. in May, 2012.

Okamoto, who graduated Cum Laude with Distinction in Biology and minored in Asian Studies, was a four-year member of the soccer team.  She was the team's Rookie of the Year in 2003; served as co-captain from 2005-07 and led her team to a 2006 NCAA appearance.  She received Division I All Independent second team honors in 2004 and first team honors in 2005, was a Division I All Academic selection in 2005 and a Conference USA All Academic Team honorable mention in 2006.  She has two years coaching experience and has received her USSF "E" certification.  Coach Stephanie Gabbert welcomes the addition to her staff, "As a recent graduate of Colorado College, Katlin provides an excellent example for our players both as a top athlete and a high level student.  She understands the complexities of the game, is a very good teacher and provides a positive and productive learning environment for our student-athletes."
