Cross-Country Finishes Fourth at Seven Sisters Championship
Northampton, MA: Senior Christine Dzialo (Belchertown, MA) ran her best collegiate race to date and finished second overall today at the 28th annual Seven Sisters Cross-Country Championship held at Mount Holyoke College. Dzialo, who was twelve seconds off the winning time, finished the race in 18:56.
Dzialo also earned All Championship Team honors with her second place finish.
Wellesley College won the team title with 33 points and Johanna Spangler (Gettysburg, PA) was the individual champion for the Blue. She finished the 5000m course in 18:44. Vassar College was second with 54 points, followed by Swarthmore (56), Smith (90), Bryn Mawr (154) and host Mount Holyoke (157).
Other scorers for the Pioneers were Kristen Peck (Glenmont, NJ) who finished 13th overall in 19:51; Emma Yourd (Pittsburgh, PA) 18th in 20:11, Raquel Lemire (Portland, OR), 26th in 20:43 and Uli Botzojorns (Bolton, VT) 31st in 21:16. Also completing the course for Smith was Shannon MacKenzie (Hopkinton, NH) in 33rd place, 21:25.
The cross-country team will race again on Halloween, October 31 when they compete in the 2009 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship at 11 am at Wellesley College.
