Equestrian places fourth in Mount Holyoke show
South Hadley, MA: The Pioneers earned 24 ribbons overall, and 13 top-4 ribbons, en route to their fourth place finish at the Mount Holyoke show. Mount Holyoke won the 13 team show with 46 points, followed by UMass with 35, Holy Cross with 22, Smith with 21, and Williams with 19 to round out the top five.
The Pioneers were led by first place finishes by a pair of first-years. Caitlin Hunter (Downington, PA) won Intermediate Over Fences, while Laura Clampitt (New Haven, CT) won Beginner Walk Trot Canter. First-year Joo Yeon Shin (Chandler, AZ) took second place in Walk Trot and Abigail Milnor-Sweetser (Lancaster, PA) took second in Novice Flat. Sophomore Nicole Haseltine (Los Angeles, CA) earned a pair of third place ribbons, in Open Flat and Open Over Fences. Also earning third place ribbons for the Pioneers were first-year Sophia Geller (Brookline, MA) in Novice Flat and alumna Lizzy Jacobson in Alumni Over Fences.
Earning fourth place ribbons for the Pioneers were sophomore Lucy McAulliffe (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) in Intermediate Over Fences, junior Abigail Gifford (Rutland, VT) in Walk Trot Canter, junior Anya Bahros (Norwell, MA) in Intermediate Flat, Lizzy Jacobson in Alumni Flat, and alumna Claire Hey in Alumni Over Fences.
The equestrain team ends their fall season on a high note with the strong showing at Mount Holyoke and will return to competition in the spring.
