Devin Fay and Coree Naslund Join Smith Crew Staff
Northampton, MA: Devin Fay and Coree Naslund have joined the Smith College crew staff as graduate assistant coaches. Both have enrolled in the Masters program in the Exercise and Sport Studies Department and are due to receive their M.S. in May, 2012.
"We are really excited to have two new grads this year. Coree Naslund has experience in all NCAA divisions and as a coxswain brings an added perspective to the program. Devin Fay has been a rower, swimmer, diver and hip hop dancer/instructor, which all will come in handy. With over four eights of returning athletes, we are lucky that all our coaches are ready to hit the water immediately and make an impact", stated head coach Karen Klinger.
Fay is a 2003 graduate of Ithaca College where he majored in drama and minored in English. He has been involved with rowing for 14 years, seven competitively and five coaching. Devin moved to Pittsburgh in 2006 and began coaching at Three Rivers Rowing Association where he continued to coach till this past August. While at TRRA, he coached the Winter Rowing League, Summer Corporate Rowing League and the Girls Summer Competitive Sweep Program. The girls team competed at the Club Nationals in Oak Ridge, Tennessee this summer. He also coached at Taylor Allderice High School for three years.
Naslund graduated from Western Washington University in 2006 with a major in Journalism-Public Relations and a minor in English. While at Western Washington, she was the coxswain of the Division II Women's Varsity 4+ that won the NCAA National Championship in 2006. She has been involved in rowing for 11 years and served as the assistant rowing coach at Pacific Lutheran from 2006-07 and at Drake from 2007 - May, 2009.
