Smith Finishes 8th at Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament

Northampton, MA: To open day two of the Hall of Fame Tournament, Smith lost to a talented Williams squad 3-1 (25-12, 25-11, 22-25, 25-14). In their second match of the day, the Pioneers dropped a match to Bowdoin 3-1 (25-16, 26-28, 25-7, 25-20). With the losses Smith dropped to 11-17 on the season.

The Pioneers were led all weekend by Bethany Weiss (Windham NH), who was selected to the All-Tournament Team. Against Williams, Weiss contributed 6 kills, 2 blocks, and 1 service ace. In the Bowdoin match, she contributed 2 kills, 2 blocks, and 2 service aces.

Also turning in strong performances for the Pioneers Saturday were Mikal Minarch (Hobart, IN) finishing the day with 15 digs, 8 kills and Allie Rissi (Scottsdale, AZ) who contributed 13 kills, 13 digs, and 3 aces. Teammate Lauren Martinez (Phoenix, AZ) finished with 12 assists, 8 digs, and 4 kills.

The Pioneers return to action Tuesday as they travel to Mt. Holyoke for a 7 pm start.
