Smith Volleyball Splits Matches at Keene State Invitational
Northampton, MA: In the inaugural Little East-New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Challenge Smith split their two matches on the day, defeating Plymouth State 3-0 (29-27, 25-17, 26-24) while falling to Keene State 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-21). With the split Smith now stands at 11-13 on the season.
In the match-up against Keene, Mikal Minarich (Hobart, IN) led the Pioneers with 5 kills, 10 digs, and 2 blocks. Teammate Lauren Martinez (Phoenix, AZ) had 8 assists and one service ace. Courtney Faria (Bourne, MA) finished with 2 kills, 7 assists, and 1 service ace. Defensively, Rachel Lackert (Cold Springs Harbor, NY) contributed 17 digs.
Against Plymouth State, Courtney Parker (Berlin, MD) finished with 11 kills, 2 digs, and 2 blocks. Additionally, Alexander Rissi (Scottsdale, AZ) added 8 kills, 3 service aces, 2 blocks, and 2 digs.
The Pioneers return to action Tuesday October 21st as they travel to Springfield College for a 7 pm match.
