Volleyball Falls to Amherst 3-0

Northampton, MA: Smith Volleyball lost 3-0 (12-25, 20-25, 17-25) to Amherst College this evening in Northampton. With the loss Smith falls to 9-12 overall, while Amherst improves to 13-3 on the season.

Bethany Weiss '10 (Windham, NH) led the Pioneers in kills with 9. She also added 4 blocks on the night. Lauren Martinez '11 (Poenix, AZ) finished the match with 13 assists and 2 service aces. Rachael Lackert '10 (Cold Springs Harbor, NY) had a solid defensive performance with 9 digs. Courtney Parker '09 (Berlin, MD) added 4 kills for the Pioneers.

Leading Amherst was Katherine Kanoff '12 (Pacific Palisades, CA) with 11 kills and 10 digs on the match. Sara Heller '09 (La Canada, CA) was the match leader in assists with 26 on the night. Rachel Yorke '11 (Los Altos Hills, CA) added 13 assists for Amherst, while teammate Cristy Meier '12 (San Anselmo, CA) finished with 8 kills.

The Pioneers will be back in action Tuesday, October 14 as they host Coast Guard for a NEWMAC match-up.
