Tracksters Compete at Open New England Championships

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers finished 29th out 36 Division I, II and III schools today at the Open New England Outdoor Track & Field Championship held yesterday and today at the University of Massachusetts.

Competing for Smith Etta Grover -Silva (Arcata, CA), Caitlin Ritchie (Meriden, CT), Uzuri Sims (San Diego, CA), Ruby Western (Burlington, VT), Claire Edwards (Klamath Falls, OR), Kaitlin Eison-Washington (Portland, OR), Mary Cote (Gardiner, MT) and Anna Cressotti (Southampton, MA). Grover-Silva finished 10th in the pole vault with a height of 3.35m and Ritchie finished 13th in the javelin with a throw of 35.37m.  Sims ran a personal best in the 200m and finished 26th in 26.47 and combined with Edwards, Cote and Eison-Washington in the 4x100m relay that had a season best time of 49.78.  Western placed 6th in the discus (40.31m) while Cressotti finished 27th in the 1500m in 4:51.02.
