Pioneers Finish 16th at New England Division III Track & Field Championship

Northampton, MA: Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) had a second place finish in the pole vault today with a leap of 12'1 and earned All New England honors at the New England Division III Track & Field Championships held at Springfield College.

Also earning All New England recognition were Caitilin Ritchie (Meriden, CT) who finished 8th in the javelin with a throw of 112' 1" and the 4x100m relay team of  Claire Edwards (Klamath Falls, OR), Uzuri Sims (San Diego, CA), Kaitlin Eison-Washington (Portland, OR) and Mary Cote (Gardiner, MT) that placed 5th in 50.66, less than two seconds out of first. Sims also finished 11th in the 200m (26.54) and 15th in the 400m (1:01.44) while Cote placed 20th in the long jump (15'10.25") and 23rd in the triple jump (31'. 7.25").

Other noteworthy performances were given by the 4x400m relay team comprised of Alina Ainyette (South Orange, NJ), Anna Cressotti (Southampton, MA), Sims and Kristin Peck (Bethlehem, NY) who placed 10th in 4:13.13; Cressotti who finished 10th in the 1500m (4:43.90); Ruby Western (Burlington, VT) who took 17th in the hammer (124'6"); Edwards who jumped 14' 6" and placed 26th in the long jump and Shakwana Etienne (West Orange, NJ) who finished 18th in the shot (34'2) and 22nd in the discus (97'11).
