Pioneers Win Six Events at ECSU Invitational

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers won six events today at the team non-scoring Eastern Connecticut State University Track and Field Invitational in cold and wet conditions.

Katie Eison-Washington (Portland, OR), Mary Cote (Gardnier, MT) and Claire Edwards (Klamath Falls, OR) took first, second and third in the 100m dash and the three combined with Caitlin Ritchie (Meriden, CT) won the 4x100m relay in 50.87, an ECAC qualifying time. The Pioneers also swept the top three in the 1500m run with Anna Cressotti (Southampton, MA) running a season best 4:49.09 to win handily.  Nora Youngs (Penacook, NH) finished second with a season best 5:02.37 and Kristin Peck (Bethlehem, NY) took third with a season best 5:03.41. Ritchie won both the 200 m dash (29.57) and javelin with a throw of 34.60 while sophomore Catherine McGuinness (Fairfax, VT) won the hammer throw with a distance of 36.26m.

Also having great performances were Anna Leversee (Keene, NH) who finished third and ran a season best 200m in 30.68; Ruby Western (Burlingrton, VT) who took seconds in the shot put (10.06m), discus (38.42m) and hammer (35.37m) and jumpers Jasmine Liverpool (Brooklyn, NY), second in the triple jump (9.60m) and Cote second in the long jump 4.89m.
