Track Athletes Compete at ECAC Championships

Northampton, MA: Seven track and field athletes competed at the 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships held at Tufts University and tied for 19th place out of 50 institutions.

Junior Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) placed 1st in the pole vault at a height of 3.85m (12'7 1/2"). Grover-Silva set a new meet record, facility record and broke her own school record for the third time this season. The 4x200m relay team which consisted of first years Katie Eison-Washington (Portland, OR) and Angela Mary Cote (Gardiner, MT), senior Alina Ainyette (South Orange, NJ) and sophomore Uzuri Sims (San Diego, CA) placed 11th out of 17 teams with a time of 1:50.46. Cote also finished 24th in the long jump with a jump of 4.65m (15'3 1/4"). First year Kristen Peck (Bethlehem, NY) competed in the 1000m and finished with a time of 3:04.35 and a 4th place finish. Senior Nora Youngs (Penacook, NH)  finished 14th in the 3000m with a time of 10:57.14.

This meet concludes the season for everyone except Grover-Silva who will compete on March 13 in the pole vault at the 2009 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships to be held at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. She will enter that meet tied for 1st in the nation.
