Tennis Bows to Wheaton in NEWMAC Tournament

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers fell to Wheaton College 5-0 this morning in the first round of the 2008 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship. In other first round competition, Babson defeated host Mount Holyoke 5-1. Smith concludes the fall season 2-6 overall while Wheaton improved to 11-2.

2) Catherine Teague vs. Gianna Teague (Gahanna, OH), 6-3, 5-0 (unfinished)
3) Allesandra DiOrio vs. Jaimi Inskeep (Warrenville, IL) 6-3, 2-0 (unfinished)
4) Ellen Van Faasen defeated Nicole Anderson (Sherborn, MA) 6-0, 6-1
5) Katherine Knies vs. Mindy Chu (Los Altos, CA), 6-1, 3-1 (unfinished)
6) Mallory Farmer vs. Allyson Hawkins (Plainfield, NH) 6-1, 5-0 (unfinished)

Tomorrow at 9:30 am at Mount Holyoke College #1 seed Wellesley College will play #4 Babson while #2 MIT faces #3 Wheaton.  The championship match will be played at 1 p.m.
