Smith Tennis Bows to Wellesley In NEWMAC Opener

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers and the Blue of Wellesley met today in Northampton in the season opener for both teams with Wellesley registering the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory.

Wellesley, the defending NEWMAC champions swept the young Pioneers in both doubles and singles. Three first years made their collegiate debut today for Smith - Gianna Teague (Gahanna, OH), Jaimi Inskeep (Warrenville, IL) and Clair Oblamski (Elm Grove, WI).  The Pioneers will travel to Babson College on Saturday, September 20 for their next match.

1. Diana Fiumefreddo (Winchester, VA)/Nawal Mays (Niskayuna, NY) lost 8-1to Mohona Siddique/Jennifer Schwarzkopf
2. Gianna Teague/Jaimi Inskeep lost 8-3 to Marie Watanabe/Grace Cheng
3. Mindy Chu (Los Altos, CA)/Clair Oblamski lost 8-2 to Shivani Saxena/Jacqueline Shen
