Smith Tennis Falls 9-0 at Holy Cross

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers concluded their 2008-09 season with a 9-0 loss at Holy Cross this afternoon. With the loss, Smith fell to 7-13 overall while Holy Cross improved to 10-7.

First years Jaimi Inskeep (Warrenville, IL) and doubles partner Gianna Teague (Gahanna, OH)  had a close match at the number one position losing 8-6 while Ali Hawkins (Plainfield, NH) and Mindy Chu (Los Altos, CA) lost a close match at second doubles, 9-8, (7-4). Chu also lost a close match at three singles (2-6, 6-4, 7-10).

Doubles
1.  Inskeep/Teague lost to Kristen Meahl/Carolyn Chandley, 8-6
2.  Hawkins/Chu lost to Emma Rudnik/Emily Marr, 9-8 (7-4)
3.  Maggie Steiner (Madison, CT)/Melissa Wong (Portsmouth, OH) lost to Paige Brown/Melanie Bunke, 8-3

Singles
1. Inskeep lost to Meahl, 6-0, 6-4
2. Teague lost to Marr, 6-1, 6-1
3. Chu lost to Chandley, 6-2, 4-6, 10-7
4.  Steiner lost to Hailee Lange, 6-2, 6-2
5.  Hawkins lost to Ivette Konopka, 6-0, 6-2
6.  Wong lost to Kathryn Wilkie, 6-0, 6-0
