Tennis Defeats Springfield, 7-2

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers won five singles and two doubles matches this afternoon in Springfield to defeat the Pride 7-2. With the victory, Smith improved to 7-12 overall while Springfield fell to 3-12.

Doubles
1.  Jaimi Inskeep (Warrenville, IL)/Gianna Teague (Gahanna, OH) defeated Amy Shaw/Kyla Walgren, 8-6
2. Allyson Hawkins (Plainfield, NH)/Mindy Chu (Los Altos, CA) defeated Talya Pessolano/Funmi Olowookere, 8-3
3.  Margaret Steiner (Madison, CT)/Robyn Cry (Limington, ME) lost to Kristi Maltz/Elizabeth Slotnick, 3-8

Singles
1. Inskeep lost to Shaw, 0-6, 6-4, 6-10
2. Teague defeated Olowookere, 7-5, 6-0
3. Chu defeated Walgren, 6-1, 6-2
4. Steiner defeated Pessolano, 6-0, 6-2
5.  Hawkins defeated Maltz, 6-2, 6-2
6.  Melissa Wong (Portsmouth, OH) defeated Slotnick, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3

The Pioneers will conclude their 2008-09 season tomorrow at Holy Cross.
