Pioneers Perform Well at Pioneer Valley Swimming & Diving Invitational
Northampton, MA: Sophomores Lily Seidman (Westfield, IN), Lenora Walter (Santa Ynez, CA), and junior Christine Dzialo (Belchertown, MA) combined for 24 top five finishes today at the non-team scoring Pioneer Valley Invitational held at Mount Holyoke College.
Seidman tallied seven first place finishes including the 200 IM (2:21.49), 200 fly (2:20.43), 200 free (2:08.04), and was a member of the winning 200 free relay team (1:45.95), 400 medley relay team (4:36.50), 200 medley relay team (2:02.17) and 400 free relay (4:00.17). She also took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.50) and 50 back (30.85). Dzialo was also a member of the 200 & 400 free relays and 400 medley relay. She won the 100 free in 58.47 and finished second in the 500 free (5:49.76), 50 free (26.97), 200 free (2:09.22) and fifth in the 200 back in 2:34.26. Walter was a member of the 200 & 400 medley relays and the 400 free relay teams. She also took first in the 50 back (30.71) and had second place finishes in the 50 breaststroke (36.16), 50 fly (30.63) and third in the 100 fly (1:10.09).
Additional members of the winning relay teams were Rachel Dorset (Stratford, CT), Francesca Kotey (Gainesville, FL) and Reyna Levine (Kalamazoo, MI). Dorset also won the100 fly (1:06.26), placed second in the 200 back (2:31.04), third in the 200 IM (2:29.25) and fifth in the 100 back (1:11.01). Levine swam a 2:55.35 in the 200 breaststroke for second place, finished fourth in the 50 breaststroke (36.65) and 5th in the 200 fly (2.57.40) and 400 IM (5:40.08).
Other top three performances were given by Cordelia McGeehee (Roseville, MN) who placed third in the 100 free (1:00.66) and was a member of the third place 200 free relay team (1:54.08) and 400 free relay team (4:15.39). Other members of the 400 free relay "B" team were Alexandra Page (Brookline, MA), Levine and Kotey; 200 free relay members included Levine, Page and Hannah Bromfield (Brookline, MA) and 400 medley relay B team were Page, Levie, Kotey and Rebecca Rosen (Harrington Park, NJ).
