Smith Swimming and Diving Drops Duel Meet to Eastern

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers lost a close swim meet this afternoon to Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) 148-132. With the loss Smith drops to 0-2 on the season, ECSU now stands at 2-0 on the year.

For the Pioneers, Lily Seidman (Westfield, IN) finished the day with three first places finishes in the 200 yd butterfly (2:19.33), 100 yd free (56.72) and the 100 yd butterfly (1:02.67). Additionally, she was a member of the 200 yd medley relay which finished 2nd with a time of 2:00.40. The rest of the relay team consisted of Leonora Walter (Santa Ynez, CA), Reyna Levine (Kalamazoo, MI), and Francesca Kotey (Gainseville, FL).

Walter also finished with two first place finishes in the 100 yd backstroke (1:05.20) and the 200 yd backstroke with a lifetime best time of  2:20.13. She was also a member of the 400 yd medley team which finished second with a time of 4:00.00. Additional members of the relay squad were Kotey, Rachel Dorset (Stratford, CT), and Alexandra Page (Brookine, MA).

Additionally, Levine took first place in the 400 yd IM with a time of 5:15.62. Levine also took second place in the 100 yd breaststroke (1:16.95) and the 200 yd breaststroke (2:45.94).  Rebecca Rosen (Harrington Park, NJ) also took second place in the 1000 yd free with a time of 12:26.60. Beating her previous best time by 6 seconds Cordelia McGehee (Rosenville, MN) finished third in the 200 yd free (2:12.87).

In the diving portion of the meet Smith's Alexis-Clair Roehrich (Eau Claire, WI) scored a 198.90 on the 1-meter board and a 200.35 on the 3-meter board.

The Pioneers return to the pool Tuesday as they travel to Elms College for a 7 pm start.
