Swimming & Diving Places Fifth at Wheaton Invitational

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers finished in fifth place among six women's teams today at the Wheaton Invitational. Sophomore Lily Seidman (Westfield, IN) led the Pioneers with three second place finishes.

Seidman's second place finishes included the 200 fly (2:18.27), 200 back (2:19.68) and the 100 fly (1:02.68).  Sophomore diver Alexis-Clair Roehrich (Eau Clair, WI) finished fourth on the three-meter board with 184.10 points and fifth on the one-meter board with 174.35 points. Classmate Lenora Walter (Santa Ynez, CA) took third in the 200 back (2:20.43) and fourth in the 100 back (1:06.14).  Junior Christine Dzialo (Belchertown, MA) had two 6th place finishes - 200 free (2:08.93) and 100 free (59.34) while senior tri-captain Francesca Kotey (Gainesville, FL) placed 7th in the 50 free (26.69).

Wheaton won its invitational with 547.5 points followed by Clark (380.5), Wellesley (270), Vassar (203), Smith (158) and Roger Williams (112).

The Pioneers will compete again on Saturday, January 17th when they host Wellesley College at 1 pm in Dorothy Dalton Pool.
