Smith Soccer Falls to Wilkes

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers fell to Wilkes College this afternoon 1-0 at the Wilkes Invitational. With the loss, Smith fell to 0-2 while Wilkes improved to 3-2.

The only goal of the contest was scored by Wilkes' Julissa Reed (Coal Townshipk, PA) at the 19:23 mark.  Smith's Lauren Bachtel (Dublin, OH) played all 90 minutes in goal and made 7 saves. Keepers Jessica Berkley (Johnstown, PA) and Sarah Shetler (Pequea, PA) each played 45 minutes in goal for the host with Berkey making one stop. 

Smith will be in action again on Wednesday, Sept. 10 when it travels to Keene State for a 7 pm contest.
