Lacrosse Falls To Clarkson 4-15

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers fell 15-4 to the Golden Knights of Clarkson University this afternoon in their annnual SpringFling event in West Palm Beach, Florida. With the season opening loss, Smith's overall record drops to 0-1 while Clarkson improves to 1-1.

Smith College senior Blair Repalyea (Prides Crossing, MA) led the Pioneers in scoring with two goals on the game. Repalyea put Smith on the board with her first goal, unassisted, with 4:18 remaining in the first half. Fighting back, Smith opened the second half with two consecutive goals. Junior Michelle Walsh (Northampton, MA) scored her first goal, Smith's second, at 28:40, assisted by sophomore Eve Whitehouse (North Reading, MA). Less than seven minutes later, Repalyea scored her second unassisted goal, Smith's third. With 1:51 remaining in the game, junior Carolyn Whiting (South Orange, NJ) scored Smith's final goal, unassisted.

Also contributing for Smith, each with a caused turnover were first years Mary Pasini (Columbus, OH), Sarah Knowles (North Kingston, RI) and Phoebe Hopkins (Philadelphia, PA), junior Kaitlyn Murdough (Hinsdale, NH) and senior Danielle Schmandt (Austin, TX).

Smith goalkeepers, junior Chelsea Henderson (White Plains, NY) and sophomore Elizabeth Niehoff (Bronxville, NY) faced 23 shots with 5 saves on the game combined.
