Field Hockey Defeats Western New England

Northampton, MA: Senior Trina Campbell (San Anselmo, CA) tallied the game winning goal last night in Smith's 3-1 defeat of Western New England College. With the victory, the Pioneers improved to 5-7 while the Golden Bears fell to 1-13.

Western New England's Katy Vogl (Cazenovia, NY) tallied the game's first goal early in the game with an assist from Tara Breslawski (North Babylon, NY) but ten minutes later, Phoebe Hopkins (Philadelphia, PA) tied the game up with her 10th goal of the season and the game remained tied at the break.

Campbell scored the game winner at 43:04 and less that two minutes later, Sarah Knowles (North Kingston, RI) tallied her first collegiate goal with an assist from Rebecca Capute (Easton, MD). Sophomore Courtney Murphy (Northampton, MA) collected her first win of the season in goal for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers travel to MIT for a NEWMAC contest on Saturday, October 18 at 1 p.m.
