Field Hockey Falls to Amherst

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers dropped a 9-0 decision to Amherst College last night to fall to 2-2 overall while Amherst improved to 2-1.

Amherst scored early and often against the Pioneers and took a 6-0 lead into the half on goals by Elizabeth Schink, Haley Douds, Chrissy Cantore, Caitlin Guinee, Julie Santosuosso and Alyssa Dudzik. Amherst's attack continued in the second half as the team registered three more goals to post the shutout.  Smith goalkeeper Margaret Winter (Purchase, NY) faced 23 Amherst shots and made 10 saves.

The Pioneers are in action again next Wednesday when they travel to Elms College for a 7 pm contest.
